About The Founder

Hi! My name is Noah Nelson and I am the Founder and Creative Director of Nelson Creative Services. I founded NCS because of a deeply held belief that Central Oregon has the creative power to stand on our own two feet, and that there is nothing more important than supporting the health of one’s own community.

I’ve lived here since I was 6 months old, growing up on a 2-acre property near Tumalo. My mom’s been a teacher in the Bend-La Pine District for 30+ years, and my dad is a physical therapist in Madras; both provide a life-changing service to often-underserved people. Central Oregon is my home. I spent my winters snowmobiling on backcountry trails, and my summers loading up my first car with friends and a case of PBR before finding a camping spot somewhere we could see the stars. This community raised me, and it is my privilege to give back in any way I can.

To my core, I am a writer. I fell in love with the craft when I was in college at Oregon State, exploring opportunities in student media. Upon graduation, I became a staff writer at Oregon Media, where I worked on publications like Bend Magazine, Bend Home + Design, the Savor Dining Guide and an assortment of Travel Oregon guides. I eventually took a job as an account executive at Mandala, where I contributed to the marketing, advertising and PR campaigns of organizations like Visit Central Oregon, Sky Lakes Medical Center, Thornburgh Resort and more.

NCS is the culmination of my career’s experience and my drive to support my local community. On the side of NCS, I am a freelance journalist who primarily contributes to Cascade Business News, Cascade Arts & Entertainment, and the Western Home Journal. In my free time, you can find me working out at Xcel Fitness, in the kitchen experimenting with a new recipe, or trying to write my novel while heavily caffeinated in a darkly lit corner of a cafe.
